Sgoil nan Loch

During recent days, a number of positive Covid-19 cases have been reported for people with links to Sgoil nan Loch and, as a result, several children and adults are currently self-isolating. The Comhairle continues to work closely with NHS Western Isles Health Protection staff to respond to cases and support affected children and families.

The school continues to implement a robust risk assessment and has reintroduced a number of protection measures that had been relaxed in line with national advice as the nation moved beyond level zero. Enhanced daily cleaning and strict hygiene measures are in place at the school. Any children who are well (with no illness symptoms) and have not been instructed to self-isolate should continue to attend school as normal. School transport will operate as normal and we ask that all travellers continue to wear a face covering

Whilst we appreciate that concerned parents and community members wish to seek details of positive Covid-19 cases, we do ask that the privacy of individuals is respected, and speculation is avoided at this time.

For all Western Isles school and nursery pupils, please remain highly vigilant for any new symptoms, regardless of how mild, and respond immediately to any concerns by self-isolating (do not send children to school with symptoms) and seeking a test.

The three main symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • a new continuous cough and/or
  • a high temperature and/or
  • a loss of, or change in, taste or smell (anosmia).

Please also be vigilant for any new symptoms including the following, which are common to COVID-19:

  • Chills or shivers
  • Unexplained fatigue
  • Sore throat
  • Unexplained headache
  • Diarrhoea
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms

You can seek a PCR test by calling 01851 601151 or e-mailing wi.covid19queries@nhs.scot. Please do not rely on the result of an LFD self-test for anyone with symptoms.
