Loganair National Gaelic Schools Debate - Public Welcome

Public welcome at 2023 Loganair National Gaelic Schools Debate

Following on from a hugely successful return post-COVID, the 2023 Loganair National Gaelic Schools Debate proves to be yet another great competition: 14 teams from 13 schools have registered for this year's competition. The first two rounds will be held in the Stornoway Town Hall, on the 7th and 8th of November 2023.

The aim of the debate is to give Gaelic-speaking teenagers a platform to showcase their public speaking skills, to further improve their linguistic skills, and to enhance their personal and social skills. In addition, the social value of the debate cannot be undervalued; both as an instrument of influence on participant and audience and as an opportunity for young Gaelic speakers to network with their contemporaries from all areas of Scotland.

The public are warmly invited to attend on either day to support the secondary pupils as they battle head to head to be one of 4 teams who compete in the semi-finals in Edinburgh's Story-telling centre on the 29th November.

First round: Tuesday 7th November at 1pm

Second round: Wednesday 8th November at 11am
